If you\u2019ve missed our previous Tips of the Week, be sure to check them out <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"\/staging\/category\/tip-of-the-week\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today we\u2019re going to tackle the basics of headers and footers in Word. We\u2019ll be going over how to insert headers, how to insert footers, how to remove headers and footers from the first page of a document (the cover page), and how to have alternating headers and footers for odd and even numbered pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To learn a little about headers, footers, and how to use them I\u2019m going to walk you through how to create a simple company letterhead, using Translation Excellence as the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Insert Header and Footer in Word<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To insert a header in Word click \u201cInsert\u201d and then \u201cHeader.\u201d As you can see from the below screenshot, there are many header templates to choose from. Choose whatever suits your document style and it will insert the header for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/2022projects.timefortheweb.com\/translation-excellence-new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/1_smaller-151x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4370\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Adding Content to Header in Word<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next, add anything! Here I have added the text \u201c[Document Title]\u201d to show where I would add the document\u2019s title when using the letterhead, and I have added our company logo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can do this by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Clicking \u201cInsert\u201d \u2192 \u201cPictures\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Selecting the file from your computer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Extra Tip:<\/strong> When inserting pictures into the header or footer, select \u201cBehind Text\u201d as the layout option. This allows flexible positioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/2022projects.timefortheweb.com\/translation-excellence-new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/2_smaller-300x115.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4371\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Insert Footer in Word with Example<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inserting a footer involves the same process as inserting a header except we select \u201cFooter\u201d instead of \u201cHeader.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/2022projects.timefortheweb.com\/translation-excellence-new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/3_smaller-154x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4373\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, I\u2019m going to add some company information to the footer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/2022projects.timefortheweb.com\/translation-excellence-new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/4_smaller-300x80.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4374\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Footer in Word Example with Alignment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To structure your footer properly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use the <strong>Tab button<\/strong> to create multiple columns<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Align text left, center, or right as needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a simple but effective footer in Word example for professional documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/2022projects.timefortheweb.com\/translation-excellence-new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/5_smaller-232x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4375\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Insert Headers and Footers with Numbering<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s time to add a page number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To do this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click \u201cInsert\u201d \u2192 \u201cPage Number\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Place the cursor where you want the number<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select \u201cCurrent Position\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This method ensures your footer content is not replaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Remove Header and Footer in Word First Page<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Headers and footers repeat by default. But what if you need a clean cover page?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to \u201cPage Setup\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the small arrow<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open the \u201cLayout\u201d tab<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check \u201cDifferent first page\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now your first page will not display headers or footers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/2022projects.timefortheweb.com\/translation-excellence-new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/6_resized-194x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4376\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I selected \u201cBold Numbers,\u201d here are the results:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/2022projects.timefortheweb.com\/translation-excellence-new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/7_smaller-235x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4377\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Different Headers and Footers for Odd and Even Pages<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To create alternating layouts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open \u201cPage Setup\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to \u201cLayout\u201d tab<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select \u201cDifferent odd and even\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is useful for books, reports, and professional formatting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/2022projects.timefortheweb.com\/translation-excellence-new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/8_smaller-254x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4378\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Voila!
